On September, 6th 2017, the British Virgin Islands suffered the full force of a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Irma hit the Virgin Islands head on, destroying everything in its path, leaving total devastation. Days later, Hurricane Maria struck the region, adding further to the extensive damage already incurred.
Tens of thousands of people lost their homes and their livelihoods. The people of the BVI have not given up hope as they try to piece together their shattered lives. They are at the start of a very long road to recovery.Background
